In case you have also provided wrong info such as birth date, wrong name spelling or address, you should apply for correction. In this guide we will explain how you can follow step by step procedure to rectify and update your voter id card details.
First of all go to election commission’s website here: http://eci.nic.in/eci/eci.html and there at the right hand side you can see a section named as ‘Apply For Corrections’ click on it and open the next page.
On this new page you have to provide your mobile number and email address. Enter the details and it will send confirmation code in an SMS to your phone. Type in the confirmation security code on the page and click proceed to verification.
After proceeding with step 2, you will have a new page opened with an online application. In that select your state which will lead to opening of new window of the particular state. You need to understand that options and navigation menu name can be different on state websites, so read carefully and find the relevant option on the website.
In the new state website window you can select form 8 or if it shows option for change or correction of details in voter id card, then select that option. Proceed with changes and if they allow you to submit online, go for it, or if they don’t then simply download the form 8 and fill in correct details and submit the form to your nearest election commission office.
